For the Love of Mint!

Due to finals and moving back home to Texas, blogging has been rather far down on my list of things to do. Fortunately, I have an embarrassingly wide-open summer, and plan on being much more focused on The Corner Apartment. Expect new features, design, and whatever else comes to mind.

The newest feature, as you can see below, is called "For the love of..." and will include mostly trends and looks. A step up from A Weekend Outfit, I suppose.

It's clear that a mint trend has appeared for this spring and summer. And while it initially evokes in me a memory of a very bad minty-hued tiled bathroom in an old house I used to live in, a second thought is that provides a breath of fresh air to dull basics (khaki, white, black) while pairing well with almost any other color.

Of course, my personal favorite is the Rebecca Minkoff Mini 5 Zip Clutch (#3). There are a number of other bright candy-colored versions, but the unique mint hue is my overwhelming favorite. The Equipment shirt, too is another favorite. But who isn't in love with every Equipment shirt they lay eyes on? I will always believe in silk blouses.

Stackable

For those of you working toward the perfect arm stack, take cue from pros Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific and Helena at Brooklyn Blonde, who always manage to create a clever mix of their ever expanding and covetable bracelet collection.

Always Buzzing

I'll admit that it took me a while to catch on to the neon jewelry trend. A couple seasons ago, it was forecasted in all the high fashion magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar that neon was going to be a huge movement amongst designers on the runways. It's finally trickled down to be more mainstream and affordable to the masses, and I must say that I am loving it!

It turns out that these bright hues can complement a wide variety of outfits, and add a unique something special to an otherwise boring ensemble. Here are my favorites.

Stripes and Flowers

I will be the first to admit that I am a little leary about the mixing-prints trend. I feel like every time I open up Vogue or Bazaar I see pages and pages of mixed prints and find nearly all of them absolutely unwearable or impracticle. I've found though, that sticking to the conservative side and using striped and flower patterns of similar color palettes can create quite an elegant statement look that does not appear to be too over-the-top. These skirt and shirt combinations are perfect for a fun lunch date with friends or even a night out on the town. Hope you enjoy!

Sail the Seas

I couldn't help but show this look that I found on Lookbook.nu. How classicaly perfect is this? It brings back the wonderful nostalgia of catamaran-ing and sailing in Boston and Newport from a couple summers ago. Being out on the water is possibly the most relaxing thing in the entire world.

Springtime

Nothing beats the onset of spring, especially an early one. Where ever you are (if there is a you), although it may still be in the throws of winter, it's clear in online blogosphere and array of websites that spring is here. Of course, it truly is here in Auburn, it's been an even seventy degrees the past three weeks. I can't express how much happiness I get out of walking past the same tree everyday and watching it progressively bloom. Not to mention, it smells lovely. Here are some of my favorite, decidedly spring-y picks for the (incoming) season.

Acne Blacksweet Denim Jacket
Wispy Cirrus Blouse
Temperley London Oriana Mini Dress

AG Cutoff Shorts
Fanning Button Up
Tory Burch Ames Lace Up Sandal
Rebecca Minkoff Clutch Bombe
Don't forget to listen to this poppy tune while perusing the world wide web for that new pair of summer go-to sandals. I know it makes me want to ride with the windows down.

Now playing: Short Skirt/Long Jacket by Cake. Hear it.
